No-exam life insurance
Eligibility requirements for expedited underwriting, the process it follows, and what happens if you're not qualified.
Numerous carriers now provide expedited underwriting: for customers meeting certain age thresholds and benefit limits, they make underwriting decisions based on application details, pharmacy information, driving history and additional data, bypassing the medical exam entirely. A determination can sometimes be reached within hours. For every quote displayed on this site, you'll see whether a medical exam is necessary, possibly needed, or waived for that offering.
What it changes
Accelerated underwriting doesn't bypass the verification process. Your statements will be cross-checked, and any policy granted based on false information can be voided within its first two years. If the carrier's review raises questions, an exam or lab tests may still be needed; you'll have the opportunity to decide if you want to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Usually people in their 50s or under who need coverage up to each carrier's fast-track threshold, with a clean medical history and at least a year without nicotine products qualify. Recent medical appointments with lab results may be acceptable to certain carriers as a substitute for a fresh exam.
Should an exam become necessary, you'll typically schedule a quick 20 to 30-minute appointment with a medical professional at your residence or place of business in the Encinitas area, and there's no charge to you. For applicants in good health, examination results frequently lead to better rate classifications, making the exam potentially advantageous rather than burdensome.
